The AAUD
acts as a bridge to help unemployed and underemployed
residents prepare for and connect to employment
opportunities in the region. The AAUD Workforce
Development Resource Center, located in the Franklin
Center offers one-on-one assistance to link residents
to skills training, education, apprenticeship
opportunities, and jobs in the area. Clients can
work on computers to prepare resumes, research
prospective employers, investigate job openings
and apply for jobs on-line. Individualized assessments
and assistance in creating a career path is provided
for anyone needing the service. The AAUD is a
chartered CareerLink Access point and beginning
2003 tax season will assist employees in applying
online for Earned Income Tax Credits.

skills and business education classes and seminars
are offered on a continuing basis to residents
and businesses. These classes help enable small
business owners and budding entrepreneurs achieve
financial success by starting, operating, and
building successful businesses. One on one business
consulting is also available bi-weekly through
Duquesne University Chrysler Small Business Development
Center as support to business start-ups and established
entities.
