Anne
was unemployed from a private staffing service.
She received career counseling at the AAUD and
as a result was hired as a workforce development
specialist at a social service agency. She went
on to obtain her certification in Career Development.
Betty
worked at a Pittsburgh bank as a temporary and
needed a job with a more dependable future. She
was hired by US Airways as a customer service
representative but realized after a few months
that she did not like the position. She came to
the AAUD and was given a job lead for a position
with Verizon in Cranberry Township as a customer
service representative there. She not only enjoys
this position, but her wages increased from $22,000
to $25,000 plus incentives.
Charlie
came to the AAUD Workforce Development program
with a criminal background that prevented him
from working in health care – a field he
truly loved. He was referred by the AAUD to the
Office of Vocational Rehabilitation and has redirected
his goals. He has begun training to become an
Over The Road Truck Driver.
Dianne
lost her job at Ames Department Store after working
over 20 years in various departments. With the
help of AAUD and her understanding that she needed
to obtain new skills, Dianne attended two medical
office courses at the Garfield Business Institute
and received a certificate with a 4.0 grade point
average.
